Julia Haddix
 Postpartum Doula

I offer caring and compassionate postpartum support to families in Aurora, Parker, and the surrounding Denver areas. During the tender postpartum period, I offer families physical, mental, and emotional support and provide resources to help navigate this important rite of passage. I am so excited and honored to be a part of your sacred journey into parenthood!

About Me

I began my journey into birth work in 2016 in Santa Barbara, CA as a birth doula supporting families during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum time. I was trained through DONA International and Birthing From Within as well as being active in the Santa Barbara birth community and learning from the many amazing women who have come before me. I began postpartum work after giving birth to my own son and experiencing first-hand the intense needs of a postpartum family. I moved to Aurora, CO in June of 2020 with my husband, step-daughters, and son and am excited to serve this amazing community!

I passionately believe that every family should be given the best support during the precious post-birth period when mom is healing from an intense experience, working to care for a sweet new baby, and everyone is figuring out their own new place in this world.

About

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula’s work is often referred to as “parenting the parents”. A new parent has the huge task of not only caring for a precious new baby, but also healing their own body from an intense experience. Those are important jobs that should take up all of their time and attention! While they are focusing on their own healing and caring for a newborn’s many needs, a postpartum doula will come in and help fill any other role that is needed. As the birthing parent and any other parents or family members are taking care of food, rest, hygiene needs, and emotional support for the baby, a postpartum doula can take care those same needs for the family! This can be done through providing evidence-based information, breastfeeding support, community resources, light housework and meal preparation, and whatever else may be needed.

Testimonials

As a first time mom, I wasn’t sure what to expect postpartum. When I was overwhelmed and vulnerable, Julia took away my stress and made me feel confident in my ability as a mother. She is naturally supportive, knowledgeable, and nurturing. I have no doubt in my mind that she was born to be a doula.
